Shimla: After Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh adds to the list of states implementing Public Service Guarantee Act.

In an endeavor to empower citizens with power to get timely service from government set up, the HP government has given nod to implement the service act from November 16 in the state.

In a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Rajvant Sandhu, senior officials of the state administration discussed about the provisions of the act and the services included in it.

Issuing notification to all government departments , the Chief Secretary asked the officials of respective departments to train their staff and conduct workshops before the act is implemented.

With the introduction of this act, government departments like Revenue, Transport, social development, urban development and others will be bound to provide citizen centric services within stipulated time period, as a matter of right.

Also, the Act fixes the accountability of the concerned government officials in case of delay and punishment. Officials and employees found guilty will have to pay penalty and can face stern legal action as well.
