Ferozpur: The active network of Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency- Inter-Services Intelligence - in India has been unraveled once again after an ISI agent was held from Ferozpur Cantt on Monday.

The arrested agent Chur Singh, a resident of Himachal Pradesh, was working as MES in Ferozpur Cantt.

Notably, Faridkot Cantt and Ferozpur Cantt area have been under scanner for suspected ISI activities. This is the third arrest case in this regard. Indian intelligence officials expect more arrests.

On conditions of anonymity, an official said the biggest hurdle in conducting such arrests is political interference.

In 2009, police had arrested some ISI agents and their aides but they were subsequently released under political pressure. The intelligence official added that such activities encourage anti-national elements which compound the difficulties of intelligence agencies.

Reacting on the arrest, the intelligence officials accept the gravity of the prevailing conditions on Indo- Pak border, which is merely 10 kilometres from Ferozpur and informed about their priority to find out people of Ferozpur Cantt who are helping the ISI.
