"Temperatures increased due to the ongoing dry spell. Heat wave conditions are prevailing in Una, Sirmaur, Hamirpur and Bilaspur districts and parts of Mandi district and will continue to prevail during the next 48 hours," an official of the meteorological office said.

The state capital recorded a high of 31.4 degrees Celsius, seven degrees above average for this time of the year.

Dharamsala, where the Tibetan government-in-exile is based, recorded a maximum of 35.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above average.

Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a maximum of 40.4 degrees Celsius, while it was 26.2 degrees in Manali and 26 degrees in Kalpa in Kinnaur district.
