Gurgaon: The proposed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) on the Delhi-Gurgaon-Rewari-Alwar corridor will provide an "efficient" option for commuters, state Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday said.

"RRTS will provide efficient and cost effective transport to the commuters," Hooda said at the 'Smarter Cities Forum' organised by IBM.

The Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Global Corridor expressway will act as a catalyst to various economic activities, he added.

He also said Haryana had been able to harness industrialisation by using innovative systems and pragmatic strategies.

The state-of-the-art infrastructure, industry-friendly policies, responsive administration, peaceful law and order conditions and abundant skilled manpower had made the state a preferred destination amongst domestic and foreign investors, he claimed.

Earlier, Managing Director of IBM India, Mr Shankar Annaswamy, said the key factors of transportation, energy and public safety should be kept in mind "as we develop our cities."
