The committee has banned senior international players of Punjab and Sind Bank Sarvanjit Singh and Karamjit Singh, and Air India’s Gurpreet Singh from all Hockey India tournaments with effect from April 1, 2014. The three players were involved in an altercation during the 48th All India Bombay Gold Cup Tournament, which resulted in issuance of red cards to all of them.

The players would be on a probation period for one year from October 1, 2014. Any repeat offence will result in another ban of one year.

According to media reports, Hockey India in a statement said that the ban was imposed after due consideration of the facts presented before the members and hearing of the players and coaches.

All the banned players will have a chance to appeal against the decision within 30 days to Hockey India Athletes Dispute and Grievance Redressal Committee.

Meanwhile, the entire NC Railways women's team has also received a six-month ban for walking off the field and not continuing the match against Haryana XI during the India Invitation Prize Money Women Tournament, which was held on February 28.
