Patna: Accepting the request of the Bihar government sensing the fear of terror elements, the Union Home Ministry has allowed the state to detain any suspected foreigner found involved in illegal activity under Foreigners Act 1946 and Foreigners Act 1948. 

The government has taken the move in view of Bihar sharing its border with Nepal, which has witnessed the entry of foreign nationals to carry out their nefarious plans in Bihar.

Earlier, the Bihar government had to take permission from the Centre to detain foreigner involved in any illegal activity in the state. The state government has appointed an officer of DIG rank to act as a civil authority in this case.

The state home department has also issued orders in this regard. Now the government can detain or arrest foreigners if they are found involved in any illegal activity in the state.
