New Delhi: Soon after being entangled into controversy following its remark on gay sex, the Ministry of Home Affairs denied taking any stand on the Delhi High Court order of decriminalising homosexuality.

In a hurriedly-issued press statement, the Home Ministry clarified that the ministry neither supports nor protests the verdict of Delhi HC. The ministry has only asked the Attorney General to assist the Supreme Court.

The statement also said that the matter was considered by the Cabinet after which it was decided that the Central Government will not file an appeal against the judgement to the Supreme Court.

The Home Ministry has conveyed the decision to the Attorney General and has asked to assist the Supreme Court in the entire issue in case an appeal is filed.
