The new accord is powered by a two-motor Sport Hybrid Intelligent Multi Mode Drive powertrain and it offers the driver three different modes of driving – Hybrid Drive, Engine Drive and EV Drive mainly to boost up the fuel economy.

The new Accord is loaded with Honda’s new 2.0 liter i-VTEC Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, configured to a 124 kW electric motor. Once switched on to EV Drive mode, the sedan will switch on to lithium-ion battery, which would power the car to operate exclusively via electricity at low speeds.

Besides, the Engine Drive mode comes on medium and high speed driving, which directly powers up the front wheels. Besides, when switched on to Hybrid Drive mode, the electric motor and 2.0 litre four cylinder engine will function together, resulting in powerful acceleration.

The car promises decent fuel economy as well and the Hybrid sedan is likely to run 20.8/19.13/19.8 in city, highway and combined driving respectively.

The exteriors of 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid bears much resemblance to the fuel-based Honda Accord. It also features hybrid badging, light senses, blue accented grille, LED daytime running lights, decklight spoiler along with a distinct wheel design.

The new Accord will be out on sale from October across the world and it’s expected to be priced at around Rs 25 lakh.
