According to a leading daily, the valet apparently lost control of the car while bringing it to the porch, rammed into a stationary car, pushed it aside and caromed into the concrete railing of the rampart. The driver is reported to have sustained minor injuries.

According to the daily, the hotel had initially promised to pay for the damage caused to the car but later declined it. A complaint has been filed with police.

The rear-wheel-drive Gallardo is apparently capable of a top speed of around 200 miles an hour (321 kilometres an hour) and has an engine packing more than 550 brake horsepower.

It sells in Europe for around approximately Rs 1.50 crore but import duties on supercars normally double their price in India.
