New Delhi: Though the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) grabbed every opportunity to criticise Team Anna in the Parliament, the BJP-led government in Himachal Pradesh has decided to handover the first copy of the Lokayukta draft bill to Team Anna member and RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal.

Principal Secretary (Home) of the Himachal Pradesh government will come to Delhi to hand over a copy of the Lokayukta Bill to Kejriwal on Monday. The state government has also invited the media for the program.

Arvind Kejriwal too is surprised on this newly found importance. Kejriwal said, “I have already received the copy of the bill by e-mail on Friday night. The state government had asked for suggestions in this regard and had expressed desire to discuss the bill with me on Monday.”

According to Kejriwal, he is studying the bill and if the government is really interested in preparing a good bill, he is willing to discuss it with them. It is believed that Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in the wake of assembly elections in the state is cozying up to team Anna in the name of making a strict Lokayukta Bill.

Earlier, the previous Uttarakhand government led by then Chief Minister BC Khanduri had enacted a strict Lokayukta Bill in the state. This was followed by bountiful praises by Anna Hazare and his team for the government. Experts claim that the move paid good dividends to the BJP in Uttarakhand which was reeling under a bad phase.

However, depicting close ties with Team Anna just ahead of the assembly polls is not expected to fetch much benefit to the BJP government in Himachal Pradesh.
