Shimla: Making taxation an easier job for the hotel industry and other Companies operating in the state, Himachal Pradesh government is going to launch the option of e-payment and e-deposit of Luxury and Special Goods taxes.

To this effect, the state government will bring related amendments in the Excise and Taxation Act.

Himachal Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Monday proposed the state Assembly to bring amendments in the Taxation Act 1999 and Housing Act 1979.

If the resolution is passed by the Assembly, then the vehicles carrying cements, bricks, vegetables etc from other states will no longer be required to pay Special Goods tax on the toll gates. They could easily log in and make their payments online.

In the initial stage, the government would permit only the bigger Companies to make e-payment.
