Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh University is going to organize a meeting of Vice –Chancellors from universities of northern India after a period of 86 years.

34 out of 90 V-Cs from the north Indian Central and Private Universities will attend the two-day convention to be held on September 30 and October 1.

HP Governor Urmila Singh will inaugurate the meet on Friday.

Vice Chancellor of HP University, Prof. ADN Vajpayee told the reporters that the meeting will bring the university national accreditation in the field of higher education in the country.

During the meet, issues related to the education system of the country and contribution of education in developing the economy will be discussed.

The Vice-Chancellors of Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University will not attend the two day meeting, though both the universities are active members of All India University Association.

“Invitations have been sent to both the VCs…but they are not coming for the meeting as of now,” said Vajpayee.

Before this in 1925, the V-Cs all over the country came on a common platform in Shimla Lord Reading was the Viceroy of British India.
