New Delhi: The Ministry of Human Resource and Development (HRD) on Tuesday announced a cash award of Rs 1 lakh to each of the top 200 meritorious students who have passed class 12 exam from government school affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The proposal in this regard was approved by HRD minister MM Pallam Raju on Monday. Expressing satisfaction over the outcome of class 12 results, Raju said that nearly 82.10 percent student passed the CBSE exams in 2013, which is highest in the last five years.
 
Out of 200 students who will get the award money, 50 students would be selected from each of the streams- Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational.

The CBSE results were declared across the country on Monday, with girls once again outshining the boys and the Chennai region beating others in the overall passing percentage.
