Chandigarh: High humidity on Tuesday prevailed in Punjab and Haryana with maximum temperatures continuing to be above normal at most places.

In Chandigarh, the maximum temperature was 35 deg C, with light rains drenching the city, the Met office said, adding that the humidity level was as high as 90 per cent.

Amritsar saw the mercury soar by 4 notches above normal to settle at 38 deg C while Ludhiana and Patiala registered a high of 36 deg C and 35 deg C respectively.

In Haryana, Narnaul had a high of 40 deg C, up by six notches above normal, Ambala was hot at 36 deg C and Hisar recorded a high of 39 deg C.

Light to moderate rains were predicted at a few places in Punjab and Haryana.
