Bokaro/Ranchi: After suffering a humiliating defeat in the Jamshedpur parliamentary by-polls, the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit is busy searching methods to target the opposition parties in Jharkhand. As a result, the anti-encroachment drive being carried out in the state in compliance with the High Court order and the Congress support to encroachers remained the most debates issues in the BJP working committee meeting.

The saffron party members alleged the Congress of raking up the issue to win the sympathy of encroachers. The BJP leaders maintained that the Congress got the anti-encroachment drive orders passed from the then Chief Justice of Jharkhand Bhagwati Prasad by offering him the post of Governor after retirement.

The BJP leader claimed that they would expose the Congress conspiracy before the people. The party leaders praised Chief Minister Arjun Munda for handling the situation prudently.

The BJP also expressed concern over the growing proximity between the Congress and the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM).
Lashing out at former CM and JVM chief Babulal Marandi, the BJP working committee allegedly raised questions over the victory of Parimal Nathwani as an independent candidate for Rajya Sabha seat from the state.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had won eight seats out of the 14 in the state. The members maintained that performance was possible as the issues related to common man were included in the party agenda. The BJP leaders were concerned about the erosion of party vote bank in the state.
