Srinagar: The Kashmir Valley on Friday witnessed a partial shutdown in wake of the bandh called by hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani to protest the alleged torturing of jailed Kashmiri youths.

About a dozen people including three photo journalists were injured in the scuffle between the bandh supporters and police in Downtown area. The police have arrested three stone-pelters.

In addition to Downtown, a total shutdown was reported in the Lal Chowk and its adjoining areas, while most of the shops remained open in Civil Lines, Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, Tral, Handwara, Kupwara and Qazigund.

However, the bandh failed to disrupt the traffic movement at stretch linking the several district headquarters of Kashmir with Srinagar.

Srinagar-Budgam- Ganderbal Range DIG Abdul Gani Mir said, “Several stone-pelters were arrested during the bandh.”
