Los Angeles: Fashion designer Nicole Richie says she is very slow when designing new products because she wants them to be the best possible.

The 30-year-old socialite says making money doesn't concern her when she is creating pieces for her jewellery, accessories and footwear lines as her main focus is on making each piece the best she possibly can, reported Women's Wear Daily.

"To me, success isn't measured by dollar signs. It's really about paying attention to feedback and talking to my customer.

"With everything I do, I want to make sure that I take the time and make each category the best that it can be. I tend to move very slowly and I do that on purpose so that I can make sure that everything that I design really is the best version of what it is," she said.

Richie is renowned for her sense of fashion but she insists she only thinks about comfort when getting dressed.

"It's not that deep for me. It's whatever I feel comfortable in at that time," she added.

Richie, who has two children, Harlow, three, and two-year-old Sparrow with husband Joel Madden - also said that she didn't have great style when she was younger.

"When I was a little girl, my mom used to always get us matching dresses for everything - so I was wearing the poufy skirt version of whatever my mom was wearing. I had the worst, hairiest eyebrows and a big afro," she said.
