"I stood by Lalu Prasad in times of need and helped him reach power despite the fact that he always humiliated me," Pappu Yadav said at the huge "Kudal Haal" rally in his Lok Sabha constituency.

Sharpening his attack, Pappu Yadav said the "RJD chief threw me after use" and blamed Prasad of practising 'double standards'. "When I met Prime Minister Narendra Modi for development of Kosi there was a row, but when the PM went to Lalu Prasad's daughter marriage it was called a courtesy.

"When I had advised (Janata Parivar) merger it was not heard and now the same is being done," he said. He also alleged that Prasad's sons have been humiliating party leaders with "encouragement from their father."

Five-time MP Pappu Yadav holds sizable influence in Koshi region. His wife Ranjeeta Ranjan is also a Congress MP from adjoining Supaul Lok Sabha constituency. Pappu Yadav and Ranjeeta Ranjan is the only couple in the 16th Lok Sabha.

He has been criss-crossing the state, holding rallies and undertaking ‘padyatras’ and raising the issues concerning the common men, such as seeking actions against fake doctors and pathological centres charging exorbitant fees, vocationalisation of education and seeking irrigation facilities to farmers.

Pappu Yadav was expelled last week from RJD for six years for anti-party activities. He questioned why other leaders who were vocal against the proposed merger of the RJD into Janata Parivar and even worked against the party line in elections were not expelled.
