Kanpur/Etah: Reigniting the controversial Ramjanmabhoomi dispute, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Jan Kranti Party patron Kalyan Singh on Friday owed full responsibility for the demolition of the 16th-century mosque of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya.

“I owe full responsibility for the demolition of Babri Mosque. I had only ordered not to shot at Ram Bhakts and Karsevaks at that time,” Singh told reporters here on Friday.

The statement comes at a time when Singh is all set to be re-inducted into his parent party BJP.

On Friday, former BJP leader Kalyan Singh, who enjoys staunch support among the backward community in Uttar Pradesh, hinted at his imminent homecoming. One time Hindutva poster boy Kalyan Singh told media that he will re-join BJP at the right time for ‘uniting nationalist forces’.

"I am in no mood of alliance. We will merge the party (with BJP) at the right time," he told reporters at Etah when asked about his return to BJP.

Kalyan said he had "positive talks" with the state leadership and his returning dates would be finalised after talks with BJP national president Nitin Gadkari.

Training guns at the Samajwadi Party, he alleged that by announcing release of accused of blasts in Varanasi, Faizabad and Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav government was trying to create communal tension in the state.

Kalyan’s return will strengthen BJP: Rajnath Singh

The re-entry of Kalyan Singh into BJP will strengthen the saffron party, Rajnath Singh said on Friday.

"Kalyan Singh’s re-entry into BJP will boost the party as he had done commendable job during his tenure as the CM during 90’s and he has a considerable following in a section of people in Uttar Pradesh,” Rajnath said.
