Mumbai:  Union Agriculture Minister and NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Friday said he respected the court's decision to grant bail to the sacked chairman of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, Suresh Kalmadi.

"It is a decision of the Delhi High Court. We have to respect the decision. (From) what I understand about the law, bail is the basic right of every citizen," Pawar told reporters at the NCP office here.

"The investigating agency has said the investigation is over. Bail is the High Court's decision. I don't want to comment on the decision," Pawar said.

Sports minister Ajay Maken had earlier said that Kalmadi should have resigned from IOA presidency after facing the corruption charges related to CWG.

Asked if Kalmadi should continue in IOA, Pawar said, "I don't know what the constitution of IOA is. I am one of the members of IOA, I will check with my colleagues and get back to you."

To a query on elections in five states, Pawar said, "I can't say that there won't be any impact of the poll results on the Central government. I don't think there will be any direct impact, but a wrong message can go to the masses."
