Talking to media during the kite-flying festival of Uttarayan, better known as Makar Sankranti, the 48-year-old superstar said, “I have not seen this sort of development in any other state than Gujarat.”

When asked about Modi’s chances of winning the Lok Sabha elections, the actor said, “God will decide who is good for the country. May the best man win.”
The actor had lunch with BJP's prime ministerial nominee in the state capital.

Tweeting about it, Modi said, "Having Undhiyu for lunch with Salman Khan. Undhiyu is a Gujarati delicacy and is a must-have during Uttarayan!"

The Chief Minister had earlier posted a tweet: "Enjoying Uttarayan in Ahmedabad. Salman Khan will join for lunch."

After lunch, the 'Dabangg' star joined Modi in kite flying in Ghatlodia area of the city.

Zafar Sareshwala, a critic-turned-admirer of Modi, was also present on the occasion. They were seen flying kites with local BJP leaders like Kamlesh Patel and Rakesh Shah.

The International Kite Festival is being celebrated from January 12 to January 14 here.

The meeting between Salman and Modi is being seen in political circles as an attempt by the Gujarat Chief Minister to appease the minority community ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
