He took the challenge and smashed the record during a charity match against the world-famous Bunbury XI on Sunday.

Biddle ran 2.6 miles from Alcester Town Hall to the club’s home ground of Ragley Hall. He ran twice around the pitch to beat the previous record set in Blackburn in 2010 by one mile.

It was a very exciting scene watching a man running 2.6 miles before releasing the ball.

The game in which this feat was accomplished was a celebrity cricket match – comprising a line-up of TV, film and cricket stars.

Some of the great and well-known sports persons were playing in this match. Former Australian bowler Jeff Thomson, ex-England footballers, Paul Merson and John Solako; former England cricketers Ryan Sidebottom, Tim Curtis, David Smith and Neal Radford, Harry Potter’s Weasley twins, James and Oliver Phelps; and blind marathon runner, Dave Heeley.
