Rao, currently serving as member secretary in State Human Rights Commission, was close to former Andhra chief minister YS Rajsekhara Reddy.

It is also believed that the IAS officer may play a key role in bringing YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi closer to forge an alliance ahead of Lok Sabha polls.

Rao, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, came into limelight after he arrested Youth Congress leader Sushil Sharma in connection with Naina Sahni murder case in Delhi.

When contacted, Rao refused to confirm that from which Lok Sabha constituency he will contest.

If the BJP and the YSR Congress make an alliance in Andhra Pradesh, they may give good fight to both the Congress and the TDP.
