Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has forwarded the application of IAS officer Madhurani, wife of slain IPS officer Narendra Kumar, for change of cadre to the Centre for approval.

Madhurani applied for the cadre change after the murder of her husband at the hands of mining mafia at Banmore town in Morena district.

Official sources said on Friday that her application for cadre change was forwarded by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to the Centre recently with his recommendations.

Sources said that she had applied for Uttar Pradesh cadre as her in-laws reside there.

The application was forwarded to Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for necessary action, they said.

Kumar was killed on March 8 when he tried to stop a tractor-trolley carrying illegally mined stones at Banmore town.

In a bid to stop the tractor-trolley, Kumar ran after it and climbed on the trolley after which it overturned killing him on the spot.

On the demand of Madhurani, who alleged that her husband was allegedly killed by the mining mafia, the matter was handed over to the CBI for probe.

Chouhan had assured her that she would be provided adequate security in the state and also urged her to serve in Madhya Pradesh.
