Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday ordered immediate suspension of IAS officer Vikas Garg along with five other officials of the revenue department on charges of committing grave irregularities.

The six officials had allegedly registered two sale deeds that were already registered by Joint Sub Registrar, Patiala on October 14 last year.

Disclosing this here, an official spokesman said that other officers who were suspended included DRO, Patiala Rajbir Singh (under transfer), Tehsildar Patiala A S Thind, Naib Tehsildar Patiala, G S Walia, Kanugo Pritpal Singh and Patwari Suresh Kumar.

After examining the reports of Commissioner, Patiala division, Financial Commissioner Revenue and Revenue Minister, the Chief Minister also marked an inquiry to the vigilance department to be conducted by Director General of Police (Vigilance) under his personal supervision besides, departmental action against all delinquent officials.

Since the officials concerned had different appointing authorities, therefore a joint proceeding in this case would be conducted, added the spokesperson.

Two sale deeds relating to nearly 600 sq ft of prime land in Patiala City were presented before the Registration authorities in Patiala.
