New Delhi: A slight slip-up on part of Ambala police has foiled the efforts of Intelligence Bureau (IB) to lay their hands on terrorists who were responsible for bringing RDX to the city. The identification of the police Inspector deployed to keep a tab on the car near Ambala Cantt station, alerted the terrorists who easily managed to escape. As a result, arresting the terrorists has come up as a major challenge before the IB.

A senior official of the Investigative agency said, “Around 10 days back we got the information about the intentions of ISI to rock Delhi before Delhi. We also got information that the RDX sent by Lashkar was to be handed over to the terrorists of Babbar Khalsa International in Ambala.”

He claimed that the plan was to catch the terrorists red-handed so that the entire network and operation could be cracked. “For which a continuous tab was being kept on the car on its way from Pathankot to Ambala,” he added.

Elaborating further on this issue, he said, “Everything was going as per plan till the car was parked in the Ambala Cant station. But a slight mistake by the local police team resulted in the failure of the entire exercise.”

Though the police Inspector came in casual attire, he was identified by the shop owners who immediately started his appeasement. GRP Constables deployed at the Railway Station too came to these shanty shops to meet the Inspector.

The move alerted the terrorists who managed to escape. As the terrorists did not return for a long time span to collect the explosives, it became mandatory for the IB team to check the car.
