New Delhi: With the government planning to provide more autonomy to India’s premier management colleges, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) is gearing up to book its presence in foreign nations.
In this series, IIM-Indore (IIM-I) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UAE-based Global Education Mission to launch two- year Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executive (PGPMX) in Ras Al Khaimah (UAE).

Though the IIMs have been engaged in offering short-term management programs to the students in many countries but this would be for the first time that any IIM would launch a two-year program in a foreign nation.

According to the MoU, Global Education Mission will be entitled to make arrangements for college building, student hostels and residence facilities for the faculty members. However, selection of students, curriculum and conducting of examinations will be done by IIM-I. Moreover, the Post Graduate certificates to successful students will be given by the IIM-I.

Witnessing the global challenges in the management sector, the education program aims at providing management education as well as training to the working professionals in UAE. Hence, the classes will run on weekend in order to provide them education while they work.

It is noteworthy that the IIMs were not free to expand their campus footprint in foreign countries due to certain loopholes in the Memoranda of Agreement (MoA). But the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has amended the MoA after which the institutes are able to manage its own funds and decide its own budget, take on key faculty appointment and promotion, appoint Directors as well as expand its campus.
