Ranchi: What makes Mahendra Singh Dhoni earn the ' Captain Cool' tag? Or even RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and industrialist Ratan Tata successful personalities in their respective fields?

The answer will soon be given by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) - Ranchi, which is planning to conduct a research on brain functioning of such personalities.

Interestingly, the research will help to decode the success mantra of Dhoni as to how he keeps himself cool even during the most critical phases of the match and make strategies to guide his team to victory.

IIM faculty will use Brain Mapping Technique to study Dhoni's decision making strength, which has brought him unthinkable glories on the field including World Cup 2011. To carry out the research, the Indian cricket captain will be invited to the management college.

Besides, IIM Ranchi has also decided to study the brains of other successful people in different fields. The institute has planned to invite RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, industrialist Ratan Tata and founder of Infosys, NR Naryana Murthy.

“Through brain mapping we will put forth the thought process technique of successful personalities. One can only be successful, if he can plan well at the time of crisis. Dhoni and Lalu are fine examples of this. They will be invited to the institute,” said Director of IIM-R, M J Xavier.

Through brain mapping technique, activities of human brain is recorded and studied. When a person is happy, sad, annoyed or even in stress, readings are taken. The data is then worked upon and interpreted in the research report. The entire process of brain mapping takes at least two years.

Cool and composed mind will show that successful personalities maintain their cool in all circumstances.

Stress and fear of failure does not affect their desire to achieve success. IIM has planned to use this technique to help the students become good managers in the future.
