Mumbai: At IIT Bombay, as many as 35 companies made 160 offers on Sunday with Samsung leading the list in terms of number of offers. In terms of salary package, Sriram Bhagwat of IIT Bombay has been offered USD 1.5 lakh (Rs 80 lakh) per year by Samsung. 

Similarly, IITian Dipankar Reddy of Institute of Computer Science has been hired by Rocket Fuel, whereas Hasan Chordia and Hasan have been selected by Facebook. Hasan has been assigned to download Facebook photo.  

After their selection, Hasan and Chordia have shared their happiness with others via Facebook. The social networking site has offered pay package of USD 1.20 lakh to Hasan and Chordia each.

Samsung India has selected 160 professionals this year in comparison to 140 in 2011.  Out of 160 students, a dozen have already been offered placements. About 35 companies conducted interviews on Saturday at IIT Bombay’s Powai campus, while on Sunday 29 firms reached the campus.

Last year, about 1200 students got registered for placements, while this year the number reaches to 130. Several top firms including Amazon, Oracle and Adobe visited the campus to hire students. The whopping offer reflects not only the talent of students but also the dominance of Indian students in terms of drawing salary.
