Margao: After a rocky start, defending champions and Federation Cup winners Salgaocar are looking to get their act together when they take on Mumbai FC on Thursday in the fifth round of the I-League, to be played at the Nehru stadium in Fatorda here.

With three defeats from four matches, both teams have three points each, Salgaocar who has better goal difference against Mumbai FC are placed on 10th place.

Federation Cup Champions Salgaocar has failed to carry forward  the momentum in the I-League with their defence conceding too many goals as they were found napping on counter moves or beaten by set pieces moves.

The upfront also failed to score when opportunities were presented to them.

With nine point gap with league leaders Dempo SC, Salgaocar need to start winning and on Thursday the team has a good chance to ignite the spark which is missing so far as their opponent is also under pressure to perform.

Coach Karim Bencherifa who has taken the full responsibility for the set back is hoping that his team put up a collective performance tomorrow and win the match which will raise the team's confidence which is a bit low after three defeats.

Mumbai FC are also going through the same agony like Salgaocar as they too have suffered three defeat and needs a win badly to change their fortune.

After a bright start beating Air India (4-1), the Mumbai side lost their way as they got hammering from Dempo, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan which has demoralised the teams confidence and coach Khalid Jamil is looking for a turn around on Thursday against Salgaocar to whom they have beaten them in the Federation.

"Salgaocar are Federation Cup champion and we respect them. I know both the teams are going through a lean patch and tomorrow we have good chance to win and bounce back and bring back our confidence," stated Jamil.
