New Delhi: The Supreme Court has offered to extend the time limit to the companies by two weeks which are engaged in carrying out illegal mining in five villages --  Kota, Gangani , Sarif   jamalpur  and Mohammedpur -- adjoining Aravli Hills and asked SP Mewat including District Commissioner (DC) and District mining official to file their reply on the report of Central Empowered Committee (CEC ).

CEC in its report clarified that mining work was still unabated in these villages and taking the matter into cognizance, the Supreme Court issued notice to the concerned officials of the district on April 2 and sought their reply. The Court also slapped a ban on the transportation of illegal mining materials.

Manjit Singh Dalal a leading advocate of Supreme Court who is pleading on behalf of Haryana government said that the state government has already stepped up its move in this direction and there is no report of illegal mining continuing in the area. However, it has not been able to file a writ in the matter since the state government got a notice late on April 11 in this regard.
