Jalandhar: The illness of the Ministers in Punjab is making a big hole in the pocket of the state government. In the last four years, the medical bills for the treatment of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, his cabinet colleagues and Leader of Opposition and others have swelled to Rs 4 crore.

In a response to an RTI, Punjab Civil Secretariat Sanjay Sehgal has revealed that under the health facility, since March 1, 2007 Rs 33,058,685 have been spent on the Minister’s illness.

Under the Governor’s order, Rs 31,946,757 was spent for the medical care of the Chief Minister from the state’s fund. Rs 1,27,298 has been spent on the treatment of former Chief Minister and current Leader of the Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal who are suffering from a snoring problem.

However, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal and former Minister Manoranjan Kalia have not made any medical claims.

Former Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, Minister Tikshan Sood, former Transport Minister Master Mohan Lal, Animal Husbandry Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike, Jail Minister Hira Singh Gabdihya, Education Minister Sewa Singh are few of the ministers who have not paid their medical bills from the state’s funds.
