New Delhi: Former Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amar Singh was urged by Boney Kapoor to watch his wife Sridevi’s comeback film ‘English Vinglish’. So, the ex-SP leader hosted an evening for Sridevi and friends and also took a dig at megastar and ‘mooh bola bhai’ Amitabh Bachchan.

Asked about his presence at the premiere, Singh said he prefers staying grounded and is not surrounded by unnecessary airs, while confirming that Sridevi is an old friend. He also deemed that words like ‘shahenshah’ don’t stir him.

Sources present at the premiere revealed that Amar Singh made a sarcastic remark on Amitabh Bachchan and said that he didn't want to do what Amitabh Bachchan did in ‘Sharabi’ (as he watched Jaya Prada dance all alone in a huge empty theatre). So, he invited all his friends, and hosted the evening for them.

Meanwhile, it took West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee just a phone call to have the Big B as the star guest in attendance for the Kolkata Film Festival in mid-November. Didi’s (as she is called) love for the tinsel town is not new. She invited Shah Rukh Khan to promote brand Bengal and after he referred to her as Didi, she had declared that SRK was her brother.

Notably, both Banerjee and Big B go a long way back when both of them were MPs and have shared a rapport ever since.
