Christine Lagarde spoke on Thursday to the US Chamber of Commerce, a few weeks before the IMF is to release its latest global economic forecasts at the lending agency's semi-annual meeting in Washington.

She said advanced economies are in a better place than they were six months ago with US growth picking up and Europe emerging from a long recession. But developing countries that helped keep the global economy afloat during the recent economic crisis are now slowing down.
