Kolkata: Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan on the sidelines of Kolkata Literary Meet advised Anna to step into the battleground of politics. He suggested that Anna’s anti-corruption campaign could be more effective if he enters politics. He feels if Anna Hazare forms a party and comes to power, he will be far more effective in fighting corruption.

Relating the weak Indo-Pakistan relations with the Kashmir issue he said, “Until and unless the main issue (K-factor) is resolved, the Indo –Pak relations could not be improved. A lot has happened in the past. Earlier, there was a phase of hatred which is now replaced by the progressive ideology of the young leaders who want to revive the Indo-Pak relations. For this, there has to be successful leadership on both the sides.”

Khan, the leader of Tehreek-e-Insaf party said, “If my party comes to power, revival of Indo-Pak relations will be one of the prime agendas.” When asked about his internal agreement with former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf he said, “Why I would sign an agreement with a person who himself is out of the country right now.”

Terming the present regime in Pakistan as the most corrupt he said “Because of this corruption the people of the third world are victims of starvation and poverty.”

From Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to writer Salman Rushdie, he criticised one and all. He called Rushdie a writer who is insensitive to the feelings of the readers. He said, “Criticizing Kuran and Paigember Muhammad is extremely hurtful for the Muslims. Anyone from the civil society is not permitted to do so. I have seen people poking fun at the Christian God Jesus Christ in movies and other mediums but Rushdie does not know where Paigember is placed in the Islam.”
