Dehradun: Acharya Balakrishna, a close aide of yoga guru Baba Ramdev, finally appeared before the CBI in connection with allegedly procuring an Indian passport on the basis of false documents.

Sleuths from the Central agency grilled him for more than seven hours and asked him to appear before the office once again on Thursday.

In a seven-hour grilling session, the CBI sleuths interrogated Balakrishna about his trips from Nepal to Delhi and vice versa.

The CBI rebutted his plea of being unavailable for further grilling session on Thursday and asked him to appear before the office once again on that very day.

As per the High Court’s direction, Balakrishna has to submit his passport by August 5. In such condition, it would be clear only on Thursday morning that Acharya would go to Nainital or CBI office.

Balakrishna, who skipped the CBI summons twice, was granted an anticipatory bail till August 29 after he moved the Uttarakhand High Court on July 29.

After the crackdown on Baba Ramdev agitation against black money issue at Ramlila Ground in New Delhi on the midnight of June 4, the Central Government directed the security agencies to probe into allegations against Balkrishna holding more than one passport.
