Budding politician and former contender of the Miss Universe pageant, Gul Panag, who unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections from Chandigarh on Aam Aadmi Party ticket, has taken the legacy forward.

Now, a new name, Angurlata Deka has joined the league of extraordinary ladies, vis a vis, beauty in politics.

Assamese actor Deka, 30, is famous for playing the character of Benazir Bhutto in Assamese Mobile Theatre in 2008 and commendable acting performances in movies like- Junda Iman Gunda (2007), Bakor Putek (2012) and Surjasta (2013).

Since she belongs to a small village, it was difficult for her to pursue acting career. Seema Biswas, the internationally acclaimed actor helped to convince her family.

In her debut in politics, she stormed into the assembly after defeating the veteran politician, Congress leader Gautam Bora from the Batadroba constituency of Assam.

She also shared the dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Raha in Nowagaon district of Assam during poll campaign on April 08, 2016.

A big fan of actor Tapan Das, Deka got married to Akashdeep in 2015, who is also one of the finest Assamese actors.  Daughter of Akashdeep Deka, she is a resident of Kapahera, Morigaon, Assam.

After completing her schooling from MNC Balika Mahavidyalaya, Nalbari, Angurlata completed her graduation from Gauhati University in 2006.

Angurlata Deka’s hobbies are photo shoots and Kathak dance. Dance is her passion and she learnt dancing from Barnali Mahanta.
