The charming appearance of the Mascot helps to build the interest of the people in the event apart from adding flavour to the sport. It would not be wrong to say that the Mascots become celebrities in their own light and are especially popular with the children.


Here we bring some celebrated Mascots who enthralled the public the world over:


Shera: Shera, the tiger was the Mascot of the 19th Commonwealth Games 2010 held in Delhi, from October 3 to 14, 2010.  Its name comes from the Hindi word sher (tiger).

Appu: Appu the Elephant was the Mascot of the 9th Asian Games which was held from November 19, 1982 to December 4, 1982 in Delhi.

Steely McBeam: The Pittsburgh Steelers, a professional American football team, had introduced Steely McBeam as their official Mascot in 2012.

Screech: Screech, the Mascot of the Washington Nationals, is a bald eagle that wears the home cap and jersey of the team. It was inaugurated on April 17, 2005 at the "Kids Opening Day" promotion at Robert F Kennedy Memorial Stadium, USA.

Rocky: Rocky is one of the most recognized Mascots in the National Basketball Association (NBA), USA. Rocky was inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2008.

Team: Los Angeles Kings

Bailey: Bailey, the Mascot of the Los Angeles Kings is a 6-foot lion who wears number 72 jersey.


Raymond: Raymond is the Mascot of American professional baseball team Tampa Bay Rays. It wears a Tampa Bay Rays ring, chains, and Rays' hat.
