Sundarnagar (Himachal): Taking a swipe at the Congress, BJP's former national president Rajnath Singh said the Congress Party’s unjust policies and corruption were responsible for the rising inflation in the country.

While addressing a convention organised by BJP Mahila Morcha against inflation here, Singh said that inflation started rising immediately after the UPA government came to power and reached its peak. Holding the Congress accountable for this, he asked the ruling party to explain the reasons to public for ever increasing inflation.

Blaming the Congress, he said, “Economic recession and other international factors are being held responsible for the inflation. If these are the genuine reasons behind inflation, our neighbouring countries would also have been affected.”

Talking about corruption in the UPA government, Singh alleged that the Prime Minister’s office (PMO) was involved in the 2G spectrum scam.

The BJP would obviously demand a discussion on the PAC report on 2G scam in Parliament after Murli Manohar Joshi’s report submitted to Lok Sabha Speaker, he added.

Since the leaders of DMK, SP and BSP are embroiled in major corruption cases, they sided with the Congress in the PAC meeting.

Singh said, adding, “BJP will bring back black money which is deposited abroad within one-year after coming to power.”

Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, who also addressed the convention, said, “BJP is solely responsible for all the developmental works in the state.”

Supporting his statement he added, “37 awards at the national level in the last three years are testimony to this.”

While accusing the Central government’s wrong policies for recent inflation, he alleged, “UPA government is discriminating with the state in BPL ration quota and many other matters.”

Further, he announced that the representatives of Panchayatiraj institutions will be spared from travelling all the way to Shimla for training as the state government has decided to open a training institute at a cost of Rs 10 crore in Mandi district.

“Under the state government welfare policies every Panchayat will appoint ‘Vikas Mitra’ to benefit common people,” he added.

Among others who addressed the convention were the state BJP president Khimi Ram, Mahila Morcha state president Meera Anand, MLA Roop Singh Thakur and state in-charge of BJP Mahila Morcha Pragya Tripathi.
