New Delhi: In the backdrop of the raging controversy in the UK over aid given to India, the Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday underlined its appreciation for the cooperation extended by Britain in a number of areas, which have contributed to country's overall development efforts.

"Relations between India and UK are warm and friendly and have stood the test of time.

"India appreciates the cooperation extended by UK in a number of areas, which have contributed to India’s overall development efforts, particularly through capacity-building, exchange of best practices, knowledge-sharing and sharing of technology and technical expertise," official spokesperson in the MEA said.

He said the bilateral cooperation between India and UK has been and remains mutually beneficial.
