New Delhi: In order to settle the contentious border issue, India and China are all set to hold discussion. Special Representative-level border negotiations would be initiated in the next few weeks.

Sources said the National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon and his Chinese counterpart would soon hold discussion at Delhi for which date is being finalized.

As of now, 16 rounds of Special Representative-level border negotiations have been held between both the countries. However, no solution has yet emerged over disputed 3,500 km long border. It is worth mentioning that border dispute between India and Bangladesh had been solved during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s Dhaka visit.

The Chinese infiltration has continued to remain a problem for India. Manmohan Singh and Chinese President Hu Jintao had decided to form a joint mechanism to check the infiltration on the border. In which Diplomats and Defence Officials would also be included. The proposed mechanism is yet to get approved by both the countries.
