Talking to the mediapersons, Vara said that, “United Kingdom and India have very strong links on trade, education and legal front”.

“Opening up the legal sector would make India as the centre of excellence across the globe, which will have benefits and help attract the business”, he added.

Vara further said that overseas lawyers must also be allowed to practice in India like foreign companies are allowed to invest in the country.

His visit can be seen as an endevour of further strengthening the bilateral relationship with the Modi-led government in India. Shailesh Vara’s visit is the latest in a series of senior British government minister visiting to India.

The United Kingdom’s Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State and Minister for the Courts and Legal Aid at the Ministry of Justice, Shailesh Vara will also visit Ahmedabad during his India tour.
