Srinagar: India and Pakistan should start withdrawal of troops from either side of the Line of Control to pave way for resolution of the Kashmir issue, moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference said on Thursday.

"The two countries should not only remove dangerous weapons but also start demilitarisation process," Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said addressing a Friday gathering at Beerwah in central Kashmir's Budgam district.

Mirwaiz said such steps by New Delhi and Islamabad will pave way for further measures to resolve Kashmir issue.

"Unless all the three parties to Kashmir issue start respecting each other's opinions and start a purposeful dialogue process, a just and lasting solution will remain elusive," he said.
