Vijayawada: Taking a clue from IPL, the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India has decided to conduct a national championship in which 80 leading players including those from foreign countries would participate.

The tournament called Kabaddi Premier League Championship -2011 would start here from Wednesday.

Eight teams with ten players each backed by corporate franchisees are participating in the tournament.

To maintain the balance, four international and six national players are allocated for each team and all players are equally remunerated, said Jagadeeshwar Yadav, General Secretary, Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India.

He said it would be for the first time that the Kabaddi Championship would be played on synthetic ground in an indoor stadium and under flood lights.

Four matches will be played everyday for 7 days. Semi final will be held on June 15 and final on June 16.
