Chandigarh: Union Home Secretary GK Pillai said on Saturday that the government would establish the National Intelligence Grid very soon. He informed that officials from intelligence agencies, security forces and state police would be part of the grid.

The central government has earmarked a corpus of Rs 50 crore for setting up the grid.

Speaking on the sidelines of a seminar on internal security at Punjab University, Pillai said, “The purpose behind the grid is to establish co-ordination amongst military, para-military, intelligence agencies, and state police. It would expedite the process of information sharing that would help in quickest response to a situation.”

He informed that 38 new battalions of CRPF and 20 battalions of BSF will be formed soon.
Pillai also charged the Pakistani establishment of harbouring the most wanted terrorist Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan.

“Osama was staying there with the help of Pakistan government, intelligence agency ISI and Pakistan Army. It’s difficult to believe that the Pak government and intelligence agencies were not aware about his whereabouts,” he said.
