Once pressed into action, the system will also be able to capture any dubious voice traffic passing through software such as Skype or Google Talk.

'Netra' internet surveillance system has been developed by Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CAIR), a lab under Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO) and currently being tested by Intelligence Bureau.

According to Defence Ministry note, “The specifications of the 'Netra' system can be taken as frozen following tests by the Intelligence Bureau and Cabinet Secretariat, and can be considered for providing multiple user access to security agencies."

‘Netra’ is an Indian, light-weight, autonomous UAV for surveillance and reconnaissance operations which can be launched from a small clearing, and it can fly up to a distance of 2.5 km from its take-off point.

Having an on-board wireless transmitter, Netra can carry out surveillance in an area of 1.5 km Line of Sight (LOS) at the height of 300 m, for 30 minutes on a single battery charge.
