“We will take proactive steps to deal with proxy war by Pakistan,” Defence Minister Parrikar said.

“For any talks with Pakistan, it should stop ceasefire violations and intrusion of terrorists,” he added.

Earlier, Army Chief Dalbir Singh has said despite suffering casualties in their own country, Pakistan is indulged in supporting proxy war in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan Rangers overnight resorted to unprovoked targeting of the Border Security Force (BSF) posts on the international border in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to reports, Pakistan Rangers used mortars and automatic weapons to target three border outposts of the BSF in Samba district of the Jammu region on Monday.

The sources said Pakistan shelling started at 8 PM and the BSF retaliated effectively.
More than 10,000 residents of border villages in Samba and Kathua districts are lodged in makeshift camps away from their homes following indiscriminate shelling of civilian habitations by Pakistan earlier this month.

Earlier on Sunday, Pakistani Rangers and BSF troops exchanged fire along the IB in Kathua district. The mortar shells were targeted on Karol Krishna and Londi BoPs along the IB in Hiranagar belt of Kathua district.

The firing exchanges came after a few days of lull along the IB in Kathua and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier this month, five persons, including four jawans and a woman, died in the Pakistan firing and shelling along Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir.
