"We are discussing a lot of possibilities of how we can work together. We are not on anything specific at the moment but we want to explore what could be done for UK and for India," said Baroness Verma, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Department of Energy UK.
She also announced the launch of Indo-UK clean energy forum. "It will be a very good vehicle in bringing together the engagement of policymakers, researchers and think tanks," Verma said while addressing CII Energy efficiency conference.
The objective of the Indo-UK clean energy forum is to enhance and experiment Indo-UK activities. "We have already started to introduce long term collaborations in clean energy especially with investments to the energy sector," she added.
"We all share common difficulties around energy and we collectively globally recognize the importance of energy efficiency," Verma further added.
The UK aims to achieve an 11 per cent energy efficiency improvement across all sectors, she said, adding that the sectors around energy have enabled Britain to seek growth in jobs and businesses, among others.
Verma, who met with Power Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, said that a lot of initiatives that can be taken by the two countries towards energy efficiency enhancement were discussed.
However, she declined to elaborate further on the meeting.
