Dubai: A 24-year-old Indian man has been arrested after he surrendered to the police in connection with the murder of his wife.

The man murdered his wife in March with the help of his friend and was arrested after he returned to the UAE from India, a senior police official said.

Director of the Criminal and Investigation Department of Dubai Police, Major General Ebrahim Khalil Al Mansouri said that the Dubai Police issued an arrest warrant through Interpol against the Indian suspect, identified as Atif Popere for murdering his wife.

His wife has been identified as Mumbai-based Bushra, 23. The suspect returned to the UAE saying that he had surrendered as he believed in the UAE's judicial system.

According to the report, the husband used to bring his friend home every night and they used to consume alcohol together. The husband's behaviour used to upset the woman who tried several times to stop him from doing so.
