The surgery took place during a three-day annual Indo-US conference, which was headed by Dr Ashish Sharma. Google Glass enables the doctors to look at medical reports as well as patients simultaneously.

It also eases the communication process by allowing the physician to stay in with the patient’s family at the same time. This device could work as a lifesaver in rural areas with minimal healthcare facilities.

Google Glass is a cross between a mobile computer and eyeglasses that can both record video and surf the Internet. Many believe wearable computers represent the next big shift in technology, just as smartphones evolved from personal computers.

Other industry experts take a more serious approach, pointing out the potential for misuse because Glass can record video far less conspicuously than a handheld device.

"Glass is about helping you look up and experience the world around you without getting bogged down by technology," Google added.
